  • Travellers eye view. Watching the sun rise over the temples of Bagan is a magical experience, with several thousand temples from the 11th to 13th century spread over about 30-40 square kilometres of plains at a bend in the Irrawaddy river in the centre of Burma / Myanmar

  • Market stall outside the mines of Cerro Rico, Potosi, Bolivia. Potosi is one of the highest cities in the world at 4,090 metres (13,420 ft), the remote mountain behind it was a massive silver mine, discovered in 1545 and at it's peak an estimated 85% of the silver produced in the central Andes came from Cerro Rico. As a result of mining the city of Potosí became one of the largest cities in the New World.

  • The Fernsehturm television / lookout tower in the east of Berlin is the tallest structure in Germany and visible from most parts of modern Berlin. Build in 1965-69 it was a purposefully visible statement from the Communist government of the day. Now you can book it for a restaurant meal and great rotating view of the city.

  • An oasis in the jungle. This 300m stretch of pools sitting on a natural limestone bridge over the Cahabón River in a gorge in central Guatemala is certainly very welcome after a walk through the heat of the day. Hiking up to El Mirador, overlooking the valley you can get this great view of the turquoise clear water - before dashing back for another swim, or to explore the caves underneath.

  • Corfe Castle from the Swanage Railway. A short walk from this 11th century castle ruins on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, is the 19th century railway built to take tourists to the seaside, now re-built with steam engines and heritage tours. The castle alone is well worth a visit with it's key role in the English Civil War and the working historic railway and views are a real bonus.
