Once the hunting ground of the Electors of Brandenburg was largely deforested after the Second World War (a great source of firewood). One of largest parks in Germany it is now a beautiful city park covering about 600 acres. Sitting on the West side of the Brandenburg Gate the Cold War history is palpable when walking the paths - George Smiley is off with The Circus again.
