Sugarloaf Mountain, or Pão de Açúcar is a granite monolith that stands 396 m (1,299 ft) above the Guanabara Bay harbor in Rio de Janeiro. Apparently given this name in the 16th century by the Portuguese sugar traders who shipped their sugar in conical moulds very similar in shape. Iconic and well worth the cable car trip to the summit ( pausing to find Jaws from James Bond / Moonraker )
