  • The beaches of Rio de Janeiro at sunset have a particular vibe. Here on the beach of Barra and the Praia do Pepê is very different to the more well known Copacabana and Ipanema stretches. The sea mist and setting sun add that fabulous glow to the air.

  • Fisherman catching the final rays of the sun in his net on Lake Inle. They've mastered an unusual technique when it comes to paddling their boats. Carefully balancing on one leg, wrapping their second leg around the oar to guide the vessel through the freshwater lake. The skilled technique means the fishermen can stand and look out for reeds in the water and keep both hands free to handle the cumbersome nets.

  • Storytelling in Bukhara. "In the evening, after the muezzin has sounded from the minaret the call to prayer, the men of the city gather around the ponds ...No loud speech breaks the spell; items of scandal and the news of the day are exchanged in discreet whispers. So it was centuries ago in Bukhara; so it is today." Gustav Krist 1937 Alone through the forbidden land

  • Catching the beat. Social drumming session on the beach in Santa Monica, California. Not far away from the infamous Muscle Beach I was caught up with this small group on the beach having a chilled drum, all slightly hypnotic as the sun started to set.
