  • Monk and boy meet on the U-Bein Bridge in the morning light. U-Bein Bridge crosses the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura in Myanmar. The 1.2-kilometre bridge was built around 1850 and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world.

Potosi is one of the highest cities in the world at 4,090 metres (13,420 ft), the remote mountain behind it was a massive silver mine, discovered in 1545 and at it's peak an estimated 85% of the silver produced in the central Andes came from Cerro Rico. As a result of mining the city of Potosí became one of the largest cities in the New World.

  • The morning catch. Fishermen on the beach north of Vilankulos. The shallow section of the Mozambique channel between the mainland and Benguerra and Bazaruto Islands that at low tide reveals these sandy shoals. As well as the local fishermen, there's often some friendly dolphins playing in the shallows before heading out to the nearby coral reefs and deeper waters.

  • Ayamara style. This traditionally dressed (and of course bowler hatted) Ayamaran lady was in the town of Copacabana by Lake Titicaca 3,841 m (12,602 ft). The history of the bowler hat is mixed , but some say it was simply a shipment of hats or English workers that were too small, were given to the locals who adopted it as a part of traditional dress.

  • Looking out over the Ayeyarwady (Irrawaddy) River from Old Bagan town in Myanmar / Burma. The river, Burma’s longest, flows north to south from its source high in the Himalayas through the centre of the country and empties into the Andaman Sea. It is navigable for about 1,400km (870 miles) from its mouth. In August, when the Himalayan snows melt, the water is high enough to allow vessels all the way to Bhamo, close to the Chinese border in the country’s wild north.
